While allowing you to keep an eye on your home from anywhere, using AI Smart to keep you informed without having to constantly watch, Google’s latest Nest cameras and subscriptions are as amazing as home security products.
I always asked to be careful about the associated safety equipment. They can contribute to unhealthy attitudes and behaviors and companies cultivate or prey on insecurity and suspicion to sell them. But I felt a lot of pain when I plugged in the cameras outside my house, and I don’t want to switch so quickly to not only looking out but also checking the nutrition of my phone, there is definitely some utility and some attraction here as well.
The $ 329 Nest Cam has a very white and round and Google look, but it’s a bit authoritative because it’s clearly a security camera and it is well designed. It is waterproof and magnetic to the base board inserted at any angle and the plate also has a strong magnet so it can be mounted on any metal surface without any mounting (including all hardware if you want). I put it on a drain pipe above my yard.
Its rechargeable battery should last for several months, or you can recharge it over the mains. You can get an adjustable base if you connect it on the inside, and on the outside you can get a waterproof power cable with clips, screws and wall anchors, all of which cost you $ 60. Once the camera appears in your Google Home app, you can view live feed and history, or press the microphone button and present your voice through the camera speaker, causing real fear to your dog (or any intruder).
Meanwhile, I, too, have a wide enough view to see both the front door cage door bell, the roof of my living room, and the floor. Like the cam, it can work for several months at a time with a rechargeable battery, and even if you want to mount the base panel, if you want to wire it, you’ll need a cable from a transformer like a standard door bell, and it will even interface. With your old school tunes if you want.
I do not currently have a doorbell, so it works exclusively on Wi-Fi, and at the same time, a notification as well as a ringtone and a talking (“Someone ‘front door”) display on my Google speaker and at home. With the Google Home app (or notification) you can see who is at the door and once again you can project your voice like an intercom. I chose a striking Westminster tone for the bell, but my family immediately found out that you can get a limited timeline sound, so now every courier is screaming and screaming for cats or golving for Halloween.
Smart is what sets Nest products apart from other Wi-Fi camera ecosystems. Instead of always recording, the basket records the “events” you define. So for the doorbell you can tell if it’s a car accident or a person going upstairs on your runway and the neighbor leaving the house. Packages as an event are very easy and recognizable.
If you’ve bothered about two- or four-legged intruders for NestCam, you may want an event for both humans and animals. You could go too far and say that any business event or just counting the animals in your VG patches is narrow enough to say.
